Essential Ingredients for Homemade Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
Crafting these delectable pizza rolls requires just a handful of simple ingredients, most of which you probably already have in your pantry or can easily find at any grocery store. The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity and the ability to customize it to your heart’s content. Here’s what you’ll need to create your own batch of crispy air fryer delights:
- Wonton wrappers: These thin, delicate sheets of dough are the foundation of our pizza rolls, providing that perfect crispy shell. Look for them in the refrigerated section of your grocery store, usually near the tofu or other Asian ingredients.
- Marinara sauce: A good quality marinara is key to a flavorful pizza roll. You can use your favorite jarred sauce for convenience, or whip up a quick homemade version for an extra touch of freshness.
- Shredded mozzarella cheese: The classic choice for pizza, mozzarella offers that essential gooey, stretchy texture when melted. Freshly shredded cheese often melts better than pre-shredded varieties, which sometimes contain anti-caking agents.
- Your favorite pizza toppings: This is where the fun begins! While optional, adding toppings allows for endless customization. Think mini pepperoni, cooked sausage, finely diced bell peppers, or sautéed mushrooms. (More on this below!)
- Egg: A single egg, whisked with a splash of water, creates an egg wash that gives the pizza rolls their beautiful golden-brown color and helps them crisp up beautifully in the air fryer.
These core ingredients come together to create a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, ensuring every bite of your homemade air fryer pizza roll is a delightful experience. Don’t be afraid to adjust quantities based on your preferences, but these are the perfect starting points for success.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Make Homemade Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
Making these homemade pizza rolls is surprisingly simple and incredibly rewarding. Follow these detailed steps to ensure your rolls are perfectly sealed, beautifully golden, and irresistibly crispy:
- Prepare your workspace: Lay out your wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Have your marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, and any desired toppings ready and within reach. Prepare your egg wash by whisking one egg with a tablespoon of water in a small bowl.
- Fill each wonton wrapper: Place approximately a teaspoon of marinara sauce in the center of each wonton wrapper. Follow this with a generous pinch (about two teaspoons) of shredded mozzarella cheese. Remember not to overfill, as this can make sealing difficult and lead to leakage during cooking.
- Mix in your favorite pizza toppings: If you’re adding toppings, ensure they are finely diced and, if applicable, pre-cooked and blotted dry to prevent sogginess. Sprinkle a small amount of your chosen topping over the cheese. (More detailed notes on preparing toppings are provided further down.)
- Lightly brush the edges with water: Dip your finger or a small pastry brush into a bowl of water and lightly moisten all four edges of the wonton wrapper. This water acts as a glue, helping the wrapper seal securely.
- Fold and seal the wrappers: Take two opposite corners of the wonton wrapper and fold them into the center, pressing them gently to seal. Then, take the other two opposite corners and fold them over the first set, pressing firmly to create a neat, rectangular package. Ensure all edges are tightly sealed to prevent the delicious filling from oozing out during cooking. You can pinch the seams lightly if needed.
- Arrange in the air fryer basket: Lightly grease your air fryer basket with a non-aerosol oil spray or by wiping with a paper towel dampened with oil. Carefully place the assembled pizza rolls into the basket, making sure to leave a little space between each one. Overcrowding can prevent proper air circulation, leading to uneven cooking and less crispiness. Work in batches if necessary.
- Brush the tops with egg wash: Using a pastry brush, gently coat the top of each pizza roll with the prepared egg wash. This step is crucial for achieving that beautiful golden-brown color and extra crispy texture.
- Cook until golden brown: Cook the pizza rolls according to the instructions below. Keep an eye on them towards the end of the cooking time, as air fryer models can vary. They should be deeply golden and sizzling.
- Serve warm with more marinara: Once cooked, carefully remove the pizza rolls from the air fryer. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving, as the internal filling will be extremely hot. Serve them alongside a warm bowl of marinara sauce for dipping – it’s the perfect complement to their crispy, savory goodness!
By following these steps, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying homemade air fryer pizza rolls that are far superior to any store-bought version!

Optimal Cooking Times for Homemade Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
One of the many benefits of using an air fryer for these homemade pizza rolls is how incredibly fast they cook. With just about 10 minutes of active prep time, you’ll have a batch of these delicious bites ready in no time. These pizza rolls are best cooked at 400 °F (204 °C) and typically require only 8 to 10 minutes to reach perfection. From a single recipe, you can expect to yield approximately 25 mini pizza bites, making them ideal for sharing or meal prepping.
The key to achieving maximum crispiness and even cooking in your air fryer is to avoid overcrowding the basket. While it might be tempting to fit as many as possible in a single batch, resist the urge! Leaving a little space between each pizza roll allows the hot air to circulate freely around every surface. This circulation is what gives them that characteristic crunch and uniform golden-brown finish. If the basket is too full, the air flow is restricted, leading to some rolls being less crispy or cooked unevenly. If you’re making a larger quantity, it’s always better to cook in multiple, smaller batches to ensure every single pizza roll is perfectly crunchy.

Tips for Keeping Pizza Rolls Warm and Storage Solutions
When you’re feeding a crowd, serving multiple batches of perfectly hot and crispy pizza rolls is essential. Luckily, there’s an easy way to keep your finished rolls warm while you prepare subsequent batches. Simply set your oven to a low temperature of 250 °F (120 °C). As each batch finishes cooking in the air fryer, transfer the golden-brown pizza rolls to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place them in the warm oven. They can be kept warm this way for up to 30 minutes without losing their delightful crunch or becoming dry. This method ensures everyone gets to enjoy a hot, fresh-tasting pizza roll.
Can I make them ahead and store them?
Absolutely! Preparing these pizza rolls in advance is a fantastic way to save time, especially for parties or busy weeknights. You can assemble them completely and then freeze them before cooking. When you’re ready to enjoy them, simply take them straight from the freezer and place them in the air fryer. There’s no need to defrost them first, which helps maintain their structural integrity and prevents sogginess. Just add an extra 1-2 minutes to the cooking time to ensure they are heated through and crispy. This makes them an ideal grab-and-go snack or a quick meal solution.
If you don’t plan on freezing them, I highly recommend consuming them on the same day you make them. Wonton wrappers, while wonderfully crispy when fresh, tend to absorb moisture over time, leading to a softer, less desirable texture if stored in the refrigerator. While they’ll still taste great, that initial crackle and crunch will diminish. Besides, there’s nothing quite like the immediate gratification of warm, crackling pizza rolls served straight out of the air fryer. The hot, gooey cheese and sauce, encased in that perfectly crisp wrapper, is a combination that’s guaranteed to bring smiles to faces. So, for the ultimate experience, enjoy them fresh!
Creative and Classic Optional Pizza Toppings
Just like a traditional pizza, these air fryer pizza rolls offer incredible versatility when it comes to fillings. You can customize them with almost any topping you desire, as long as you keep one crucial rule in mind: avoid excessively watery ingredients. Moisture is the enemy of crispiness, so proper preparation of your chosen toppings is key to preventing soggy pizza rolls.
Here are some popular and inventive topping ideas, along with tips for preparing them:
- Pepperoni: A classic choice! To ensure your pepperoni doesn’t make the rolls greasy or soggy, I recommend placing 2 paper towels on a plate, arranging the pepperoni slices on top, and microwaving them for about 10-20 seconds. This renders out some of the fat. Afterward, pat them dry thoroughly with another paper towel. You’ll be left with wonderfully crisp pepperoni that adds immense flavor without compromising texture.
- Cooked Italian Sausage or Ham: Similar to pepperoni, if you’re using Italian sausage or ham, make sure to cook them thoroughly beforehand. After cooking, pat them very dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture or grease. This step is vital for maintaining the crispness of the wonton wrapper.
- Mushrooms: Fresh mushrooms contain a lot of water. To use them in your pizza rolls, slice them thinly and sauté them in a pan until most of their moisture has evaporated. You want them to be fairly dry before adding them to the wrappers.
- Bell Peppers or Onions: Finely dice any vegetables you plan to add. For a less watery result and enhanced flavor, you can quickly sauté them until slightly softened before incorporating them into the rolls.
- Olives or Jalapeños: Slice these thinly to ensure they fit well and don’t create too much bulk. Pat them dry if they come from brine.
- Cooked Chicken or Bacon: Shredded cooked chicken or crumbled cooked bacon (make sure it’s crispy!) can add a fantastic protein boost and savory flavor.
One ingredient that generally doesn’t fare well due to its high water content is pineapple. While some adventurous eaters might try it, the moisture released during cooking could easily lead to soggy rolls. However, don’t let that limit your imagination! Feel free to go mild with simple cheese and sauce, or go wild with a creative combination. The most important thing is to chop and dice all mix-ins into smaller pieces so they fit neatly into the wonton wrapper without over-stuffing. Over-stuffing is a common pitfall that can lead to wrappers tearing and a messy explosion of cheese and sauce during cooking. A balance of flavor and proper portioning will ensure perfectly contained, delicious results every time.

Delectable Dipping Sauce Options for Your Pizza Rolls
While these air fryer pizza rolls are incredibly flavorful on their own, pairing them with a delicious dipping sauce elevates the entire snacking experience. There are so many options to choose from, each adding a unique dimension to the classic pizza taste!
- Marinara Sauce: My personal favorite and a timeless choice. Dipping these crispy rolls into warm marinara sauce is simple, yet it enhances the overall “pizza” yumminess. For those who enjoy making things from scratch, this Napoli Sauce recipe is fantastic. It’s essentially what Americans would call marinara, and it’s incredibly versatile, working beautifully not just with these pizza rolls, but also with pasta or lasagna. It simmers in just 10-15 minutes and uses minimal ingredients to achieve a scrumptious, rich flavor. Another excellent option is this marinara sauce for pizza which sounds particularly appealing with the addition of fennel for an extra aromatic kick.
- Ranch Dip: Ranch dressing or dip is another universally loved option for pairing with savory snacks. Its cool, creamy, and tangy profile provides a refreshing contrast to the hot, cheesy pizza rolls. You can easily jazz up store-bought ranch with some spicy seasonings like a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce. Or, for a more adventurous twist, try this Ridiculously Good Ranch Dip. It incorporates a hint of chili powder and cumin, adding a subtle depth of flavor that complements the pizza rolls wonderfully.
- Beyond the Classics: If you’re looking to truly shake up your pizza party, explore other exciting dipping sauces. Many Easy Dipping Sauce Recipes can inspire you. Consider a creamy garlic parmesan dip, a vibrant pesto aioli, or even a spicy sriracha mayo for those who enjoy a bit of heat. A balsamic glaze can also offer a sophisticated, sweet-tart counterpoint. The possibilities are truly endless, allowing you to tailor the experience to your taste or impress your guests with a variety of choices.
Experiment with different sauces to discover your ultimate pairing. A good dipping sauce truly completes the air fryer pizza roll experience, adding an extra layer of flavor and fun to this already delightful snack.
Understanding Your Air Fryer: The Key to Perfection
For these Air Fryer Pizza Rolls, I personally used a 7 Quart Air Fryer, specifically the PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer. This model boasts of cooking in a “whirlwind vortex for extra crisp and crunch,” and it certainly delivers. Beyond just air frying, this versatile appliance often functions as a dehydrator, a pizza and baking oven, a roaster, and can reheat food incredibly quickly and efficiently.
Once you’ve experienced the superior crispiness and perfect heat distribution that an air fryer provides for snacks like these pizza rolls, it will be incredibly difficult to go back to using a microwave. Microwaved pizza rolls, while fast, simply cannot achieve that desirable crispy texture, often turning out soft and sometimes unevenly heated. The air fryer, on the other hand, mimics the results of deep-frying (without the oil!) or conventional oven baking but in a fraction of the time, consistently delivering that crispy, hot snack you crave.
Another significant advantage I appreciate about using the air fryer is its health benefit. It utilizes up to 70% less oil compared to traditional deep-frying methods. This means you can enjoy that satisfying crispiness and indulgent flavor of fried foods, but with a considerably healthier profile. Plus, air fryers are remarkably user-friendly and energy-efficient. They heat up quickly and cook food faster than a conventional oven, saving both time and electricity.
Beyond savory snacks, air fryers are also excellent for preparing small-batch desserts. For instance, you can effortlessly make perfectly baked Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies or rich Air Fryer Brownies, expanding the culinary possibilities of this amazing appliance.
It’s important to remember that not all air fryers are created equal. Cooking times and temperatures can vary slightly between different brands and models. If you find that your pizza rolls aren’t perfectly golden brown and crispy after the recommended 10 minutes, don’t hesitate to leave them in for a few extra minutes. Just be sure to check on them frequently to prevent any burning. Familiarizing yourself with your specific air fryer will help you achieve the best results every time.
If you haven’t yet invested in an air fryer, don’t worry! You can still enjoy these delicious pizza rolls using a conventional oven. The method is just as straightforward, though it will take a little longer to achieve that golden crispness. Details for oven baking are provided below!

How to Make These Pizza Rolls in a Conventional Oven
No air fryer? No problem! You can still achieve wonderfully crispy and delicious homemade pizza rolls using your conventional oven. The process is very similar, just with a slight adjustment in temperature and cooking time. Here’s how to do it:
- Prepare the pizza rolls: Assemble your homemade pizza rolls exactly as directed in the “How to make pizza rolls” section above. Fill, fold, and seal them carefully.
- Preheat your oven: Preheat your oven to 375 °F (176 °C). This slightly lower temperature compared to the air fryer ensures even baking and allows the wrappers to crisp up without burning.
- Prepare baking sheet: Lightly spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Arrange the wrapped pizza rolls on the baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about 1 inch apart. This spacing is crucial for proper air circulation, which helps them crisp up evenly.
- Bake until golden: Once the oven is preheated, carefully place the baking sheet with the pizza rolls into the oven. Bake for approximately 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are wonderfully crispy and have turned a rich golden brown. Keep an eye on them towards the end, as oven temperatures can vary.
- Cool before serving: After removing them from the oven, if you notice any excess grease on the surface, you can gently blot them with a paper towel. It is absolutely vital to let them cool for at least 5 minutes before serving. The filling inside will be incredibly hot, and biting into one too soon could lead to a painful burn! Serve them warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
This oven method ensures that even without an air fryer, you can still enjoy the satisfying crunch and gooey center of these fantastic homemade pizza rolls.
Choosing the Right Oil for Your Air Fryer Basket
When it comes to greasing your air fryer basket, using the correct type of oil and application method is crucial for both the longevity of your appliance and the quality of your food. It is highly recommended to avoid using aerosol cooking sprays like Pam or similar brands directly on your air fryer basket.
Here’s why:
- Damage to Non-Stick Coating: Aerosol oil cans contain harsh propellants and additives that, over time, can damage and chip the non-stick coating on most air fryer baskets. This not only makes food more likely to stick but can also reduce the overall lifespan of your air fryer.
- Recommended Method: Instead of aerosol sprays, I strongly recommend investing in an oil mister or sprayer bottle. These allow you to fill them with your preferred cooking oil and spray a fine, even mist without the damaging chemicals found in commercial aerosols. Alternatively, you can simply use a paper towel or a silicone brush to rub a small amount of oil onto the bottom grate of the basket. This way, your pizza rolls (or any other food) won’t stick, and your basket’s coating remains intact.
For best results in an air fryer, I generally use extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil. These oils have relatively high smoke points, meaning they can withstand the high temperatures of the air fryer without burning or producing unwanted flavors. They work wonderfully to prevent sticking and contribute to that desirable crispy texture.

Demystifying Wonton Wrappers: Your Crispy Canvas
Wonton wrappers are the unassuming heroes of these air fryer pizza rolls, transforming into a delightfully crisp and golden shell. But what exactly are they?
Wonton wrappers are essentially thin sheets of dough, typically made from a simple combination of wheat flour, egg, and water. They share a close lineage with other popular Asian noodle doughs and even Italian pasta, but with a key difference: wonton wrappers are specifically designed to be much thinner and are usually cut into convenient round or square sheets. This delicate thickness is precisely why they become so wonderfully crisp and delicious when cooked in the air fryer, making them an ideal vehicle for our cheesy, saucy pizza filling.
Where can I find wonton wrappers?
Locating wonton wrappers is usually quite straightforward. They are a common item in most major grocery stores. You’ll typically find them in the refrigerated section, often situated near fresh pasta, tofu, or other meat substitutes and specialty cheeses. If your local supermarket doesn’t carry them, don’t despair! Your best bet is to check an international or Asian grocery store. These stores almost invariably stock a variety of Asian wrappers, and you’re sure to find wonton wrappers there.
For those with a penchant for culinary adventures, you can even make your own wonton wrappers from scratch! It’s a rewarding process, though it requires a bit more time. Alternatively, if you’re looking for an even simpler pizza-themed snack that uses common pantry items, you could try this Air Fryer Pizza Toast, which utilizes slices of bread for a quick fix.
Crafting Your Own Wonton Wrappers from Scratch
If you’re interested in the art of making your own wonton wrappers, it’s a satisfying project that gives you complete control over the ingredients and texture. While readily available in stores, homemade wrappers can offer a unique freshness and pride in your culinary skills. For a comprehensive guide on how to create them, I recommend checking out this detailed Homemade Wonton Wrappers post. The recipe outlined there appears to be quite accessible, with a preparation time of approximately 40 minutes. It typically involves mixing flour, egg, and water to form a dough, then rolling it out very thinly before cutting it into squares. This approach is perfect for those who enjoy the hands-on experience of making components from scratch and want to elevate their homemade pizza rolls even further.

Considering a Gluten-Free Version of Air Fryer Pizza Rolls
For those following a gluten-free diet, enjoying these delightful air fryer pizza rolls might seem like a challenge, but it is certainly achievable! The main hurdle lies in sourcing suitable gluten-free wonton wrappers. Unfortunately, these specialized wrappers don’t seem to be as widely available as their conventional counterparts, and I personally haven’t had much luck finding them in my local stores.
In my own attempts to find a reliable gluten-free solution for this recipe, I’ve experimented with several paleo wonton wrapper recipes I found online. Regrettably, the results were consistently disappointing, often leading to wrappers that were difficult to work with and had an unpleasant texture after cooking. I even tried using Nuco Coconut Wraps, thinking their thinness would make them a perfect substitute. While they surprisingly didn’t leak, getting them to stick together securely was a struggle, requiring toothpicks to hold them somewhat closed. Moreover, they burned in certain areas and failed to crisp up at all, even with an egg wash. So, based on my experience, I cannot recommend those options.
However, hope is not lost! While I haven’t personally tested them yet, these Homemade Gluten-free Wonton Wrappers look incredibly promising. The recipe appears well-structured, and crucially, it includes measurements in grams. This precision is a huge advantage when baking gluten-free, as exact ratios are often key to success. If you’re willing to follow the recipe closely and use a kitchen scale for accuracy, you have a very good chance of achieving excellent results and enjoying your very own gluten-free air fryer pizza rolls!
Selecting the Perfect Cheese for Your Pizza Rolls
Choosing the right cheese is paramount for any pizza-inspired dish, and these air fryer pizza rolls are no exception. Mozzarella is undoubtedly the classic and most popular choice for pizza, and for good reason—it melts beautifully, offering that desirable gooey and stretchy texture that’s so satisfying. However, you’re certainly not limited to just mozzarella. You can experiment with a variety of cheeses to find your perfect flavor profile and melt factor.
When selecting cheese, the primary characteristic to look for is its ability to melt well. Here are some fantastic options that perform admirably in pizza rolls:
- Mild and Creamy Options:
- Monterey Jack: Known for its mild flavor and excellent melting properties, Monterey Jack will give your pizza rolls a very creamy interior.
- Colby: Similar to Monterey Jack, Colby is a semi-hard cheese with a mild, buttery flavor that melts smoothly.
- Provolone: A traditional Italian cheese, provolone offers a slightly sharper flavor than mozzarella and melts into a lovely, gooey consistency.
These cheeses are perfect if you want a subtle flavor that lets the marinara and other toppings shine, while still delivering that essential melted cheese experience.
- For a Bit More Flavor:
- Havarti: This Danish cheese is buttery, sweet, and has a very creamy texture when melted, adding a richer flavor dimension.
- Swiss: If you enjoy a nuttier, slightly tangy profile, Swiss cheese melts well and will bring a distinctive taste to your rolls.
- Fontina: An Italian semi-soft cheese, Fontina offers a rich, earthy, and nutty flavor that’s incredibly delicious when melted.
- Smoked Gouda: For a truly unique and sophisticated flavor, smoked Gouda is an excellent addition. Its smoky notes pair surprisingly well with marinara, creating a gourmet twist.
These options are great for those looking to add a little more character and depth to their pizza rolls.
Don’t hesitate to mix and match a couple of your favorite cheeses! A blend of mozzarella for melt and stretch, combined with a sharper or smokier cheese for complex flavor, can create truly exceptional pizza rolls. Just ensure whatever cheese you choose is shredded or finely diced to facilitate even melting within the small wonton wrappers.
Air Frying Frozen Pizza Rolls: Quick and Easy Convenience
While homemade air fryer pizza rolls are undeniably superior, there are definitely times when convenience is king. Whether you’re in a rush, craving a quick snack, or simply don’t have the time to make them from scratch, cooking store-bought frozen pizza rolls in your air fryer is a fantastic option. The air fryer drastically improves their texture compared to microwave or oven baking, delivering a much crispier and more satisfying result. While they might not quite reach the gourmet heights of the homemade version, the air fryer makes them undeniably better than any other method.
Here’s how to perfectly cook frozen pizza rolls in your air fryer:
- No Preheating or Defrosting Needed: One of the best parts about air frying frozen pizza rolls is that you don’t need to preheat your air fryer, nor do you need to defrost the rolls beforehand. They go straight from the freezer to the air fryer basket, saving you valuable time.
- Arrange Evenly: Place the frozen pizza rolls in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Ensure they are not stacked or overcrowded, as this will prevent them from cooking evenly and becoming crispy. Work in batches if necessary. You won’t need to use oil or an egg wash for frozen rolls.
- Cooking Mini Frozen Pizza Rolls: For smaller, mini-sized frozen pizza rolls, cook them at 380 °F (193 °C) for approximately 5-7 minutes. Make sure to flip the rolls halfway through the cooking time (around the 3-minute mark) to ensure even crisping on all sides.
- Cooking Regular-Sized Frozen Pizza Rolls: For standard or regular-sized frozen pizza rolls, set your air fryer to 380 °F (193 °C) and cook for 6-9 minutes. Again, flip the rolls after about 3 minutes to promote uniform cooking and crispiness.
- Check for Doneness: Regardless of size, cook the pizza rolls until they are golden brown and you see a slight hint of the filling starting to ooze out, indicating that the inside is piping hot.
- Cool Before Eating: This step is critical! The filling of pizza rolls, especially when cooked from frozen, becomes extremely hot. Once they are done, remove them from the air fryer and let them sit for about 5 minutes before taking that first bite. This cooling period helps prevent you from burning your tongue and allows the molten cheese and sauce to settle slightly, making for a much more enjoyable (and less painful) eating experience.
Enjoying crispy, hot frozen pizza rolls from the air fryer is a game-changer for quick snacks, proving that sometimes, convenience really does win, especially when the air fryer is involved!
Freezing Homemade Pizza Rolls for Future Enjoyment
Batch cooking and freezing homemade pizza rolls is an excellent strategy for meal prep, spontaneous snacking, or ensuring you always have a delicious appetizer on hand for unexpected guests. Preparing them ahead of time and freezing them before baking allows you to cook them fresh whenever a craving strikes, maintaining that perfect crispy texture.
Here’s how to effectively freeze your homemade pizza rolls:
- Assemble Without Egg Wash: Follow all the directions for making your homemade pizza rolls – fill the wonton wrappers with marinara, cheese, and your chosen toppings, then fold and seal them securely. However, at this stage, do not apply the egg wash. The egg wash is best applied just before cooking.
- First Freeze on a Baking Sheet: Arrange the uncooked pizza rolls in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. It’s crucial to leave a bit of space between each roll to prevent them from sticking together as they freeze. Place this baking sheet in your freezer for about 1 to 2 hours, or until the pizza rolls are completely solid. This “flash freezing” step ensures they don’t stick together when transferred to a storage bag.
- Transfer to Freezer Bag: Once the pizza rolls are individually frozen solid, you can transfer them from the baking sheet into a resealable freezer-safe bag or an airtight container. Be sure to label the bag with the date. When properly stored, these frozen, uncooked pizza rolls can be kept in the freezer for several months, ready for whenever you need them.
- Cooking from Frozen: When you’re ready to enjoy your frozen pizza rolls, simply take out as many as you need. Brush the frozen rolls with egg wash (or a little olive oil if you prefer) as you normally would. Place them in your preheated air fryer (or oven) and cook them as per the original recipe instructions, adding an extra 1-3 minutes to the cooking time, as they are starting from a frozen state. There’s no need to defrost them first – cooking them from frozen helps maintain their shape and prevents sogginess.
This method ensures that you can enjoy the fresh taste and crispy texture of homemade air fryer pizza rolls with minimal effort, even on your busiest days!
